Shadow Shot Sunday in Hawaii...

Hey Harriet has her Shadow Shot Sunday and if you think, just because I am in Hawaii, I would miss it..wrong..Since it is the last weekend before Halloween, I even took my pumpkin along for the trip..

Now we start off with a lovely black cat that is on the grounds here...then "ole Jack-O" took a look at the fish..Thought the pineapple looked tasty..but got sick of me dragging him around and went surfing..My Dear Hey Harriet, this blog and shadows are done with love.

Fingerprint Friday, just a little late...

Fingerprint Friday a day late..These are just pictures on our way to Hawaii..Daughter took them..Pampering Beki has this every Friday and it just wouldn't feel right if I didn't get something done...These are a different kind of fingerprint..but when you see everything from above, it makes one realize all the beauty on this earth..

Beautiful Morning Sky..

I was looking out my bedroom window and saw the sky this morning..Needless to say, grabbed my camera and ran..Is this beautiful or what? So happy I got to take these pictures..
Hope you all enjoy the beauty..
Just a side note, I was in my p.j's./bathrobe and hair sticking up all over the place..Not to mention on the front lawn, leaves off the bushes and everyone going by could see me..The things I will do for this blog...I have no shame...

Gallery Juana, has tagged me and it is for 7 random/weird facts about myself..Now, I know I have told you all about myself and even some of my sneaky capers as a kid..but I never like to turn anyone down, to me it is an honor that they thought I was worth tagging..even thought I may be boring the heck out of everyone..My dear Gallery Juana, here I go...

7 Random/weird facts about myself...

1. I am a jack of all trades, master of none..

2. Went to beautician school and never bothered to get my license. I can give a mean haircut..

3. As you know, studied Fashion Illustration...

4. Entered first convent at 15, was too young and came home after a month..Cried so much
because I missed my family..They cried because they missed me too..

5. When I had my first daughter, I was so overwhelmed with the thought of being in charge of
this little soul...But all my love for her took care of that worry..and never felt that way with
the next four...

6. Took off with four children, had the last in Maine, never knowing where we would live..we all
joined hands, said a prayer and headed to Maine..I could write a book on this experience..

7. I am one for "living in the moment"...I know I am "just passing through on this earth", and
as many times as I have failed at things, I keep going..Would rather fail, than never try..
But let me say this one thing, I ( we) succeeded at,..Raising the greatest daughters and they
gave us the best sons...not to mention wonderful grandchildren. And on that note, I leave you
with a saying I saw...."Success is how high you bounce, after you hit bottom"..

Shadow Shot Sunday, A Fun Time..

Hey Harriet, here I am again, with my Shadow Shots. Husband was painting the barn and the old ladder was a good choice..happened to look on the wall and there was a lovely shadow from the door..Now, time for my Halloween shot..Took my little scarecrow outside with the pumpkin and there it is..You have to admit, they make a cute pair..My next Shadow Shots will be on the Big Island, Hawaii..so I will take that pumpkin with me. Maybe, I will put it in a grass skirt..You never know what I will do..Sometimes, I surprise myself..

Mirages In Finland

Now this is interesting..First, I want to thank Pekka Parviainen for letting me use his pictures..
they are on Space Weather under links, should you like to read more about this..The pictures are taken in Finland.

If you notice, the sailboat, well, the background is a mirage..The next picture looks like two ships, one on top of the other..There are more pictures to see and much to read about this interesting topic..Check it out.




I always think of a saying my Father use to tell me.."Believe nothing of what you hear, and half of what you see"..of course he was referring to gossip, but can be used for a mirage..you think you see something, but you don't..Hey, there is a lesson in these pictures...

A Little Fingerprint...

Every Friday is Fingerprint Friday, a print from God..Pampering Beki, started this and I always join in. These pictures came in an email from my daughter..This little deer was taken from his mother, by Caesarean section , after she was hit by a car. His name is Rupert and he lives in Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital, Buckinghamshire, England. 6" tall weighing just over a pound. They feed him by tube and he lives in the incubator..for now..What a sweet Fingerprint..Thought he deserved to be seen by those that didn't get the email.

Shadow Shot Sunday..I'm Back.....

Happy Shadow Shot Sunday to all...Hey Harriet started this fun and more people are joining in..

Okay folks, here is my Halloween shot..I took the ghost/pumpkin for a walk outside, just to get a good shadow..Put the ghost on the wood pile, cardboard box behind him and snapped away..
Sure I cheated, but would you expect anything else from a woman that drags her garden ornaments all over the yard..?

Now I will get serious..Our old shed, had some beautiful shadows from the trees..and last is a pretty shadow the leaded windows gave, from the front door..See you all, next Sunday...

Another Interesting Photo..

I thought this was an interesting little story from Boston.com news..on Oct.1st..
People started seeing this image of the Virgin Mary, on the hospital window in Springfield, MA..
They are now removing the window and say it is caused from a build up of chemical deposits..
You know, it doesn't matter what it is from..In today's times, if this image give someone hope, happiness or a little peace..I am all for it.
There are things in our life that happen and they are only meant for you..Some may think they are a coincidence..but someone told me once.."there are no coincidences"...

Can't Get Enough Of The Sky..

I can't seem to get enough of the sunsets..Lately, they are so different..Thought you might enjoy a couple of pictures..They just fascinate me..Our patio door squeaks and my husband told the kids, all I hear is the door opening and closing and I know where your mother is..taking more pictures.

Now what do you think this picture is?
No, not tennis balls with mold..It is the tiny suckers on tentacles of squid..The miniscule suction cups are lined with fangs that help grab the squids prey..Go to LiveScience and read all their interesting finds..I have to admit, some of these web sites are the greatest and so interesting..

Interesting Piece of News..

This story came from Yahoo News..
After Hurricane Ike, in Caplen, Texas..this man returned home to find his beachfront home destroyed..In the clean up, found a fossil tooth in the debris..weighing 6lbs..
They believe it is from a Columbian Mammoth, that was common in
North America, 10,000 years ago..
Some of you probably read this story, but I had to put it up, for those that didn't..I found it so interesting..
Out of something so terrible as Hurricane Ike, comes another piece of America's history..

Shadow Shot Sunday,

Hey Harriet, every week I will do a Halloween
shadow..I can't help myself..This little guy gave a big smile for his picture...Next is a serious shot, table in the living room corner, looked pretty..
then I go after the bee..Now, this took courage..
I kept getting closer and closer to this bee and having a conversation while doing so..Telling him, he will go on my blog for Hey Harriets Shadow Shot..He was very accommodating and stayed still till the picture was taken..then took off.
I am beginning to think I have a little Dr. Dolittle in me.. but, I talk to insects. If I got stung in the process, you might have read something different..See you all next week, God willing..

Another Tag..

My Dear friend, Any Occasion Boutique, has tagged me..Now this tag is about 6 secrets about myself..I don't think I have any, since I have been tagged a few times..so I will now tell you things about my teenage years..Poor mom/dad..they knew I was kind of devilish..
1. Dad drove an 18 wheeler and sometime would leave the trailer off and bring the rig home and put in our driveway..Well, my girlfriend was over and I told her I could drive it..so down we went and I got that beautiful Mack rig going back and forth in the driveway..wouldn't go on the road, I wasn't that dumb. Mom/Dad never heard a thing..Many, many years later, I told them about it..

2. In high school, bored in study hall, I had some black wax and put it on my front teeth..every time someone would go by in the hall, since I was in the last desk, I would give a big smile..anyone coming in study hall I would do the same thing..A few of the kids got in trouble laughing, but never turned me in..

3. Didn't want to go to Mass on Sunday..so my sister and I went to the Sweet Shoppe and got sodas with our collection money..Would you believe, my father goes by in the truck and looks right at me sipping soda..Will not go into what happened when we got home..Just know, I was at Mass from then on..

4. Another time, Dad used his bosses car to come home in, instead of the truck..
Well, I had another friend visiting and asked if they would like to go for a ride..
We were flying down by the beach and I had to make a turn..no brakes..well we were pulling the emergency brake and here comes the Chief of Police..I waved at him..remember this was small town USA and he knew me..he waved back..I got home safe, but was a bit shaken..Especially, since the Chief of Police knew dad very well..he never told my father..bless his soul.

5. My sister was 4 years older than me and many a time I would tag along..She was a good soul..Well, I would make her boyfriends let me drive their cars or else I would tell mom I wanted to go to the movies with them..Yes, I was a pain..But I did learn to drive at a very young age..

6. I think the worse we did was shine lights in cars that were parked at the beach at night..Yes, my friends and I would hit all the hot spots and do this..it was the thing to do ..Tell me, this doesn't sound like something on Happy Days? We did have a few cars chase us..but they never got us and I guess I can thank God for that..I might not be here writing the 6 secrets of my life...
