TROOP GREETING
Bangor International Airport is our nation's main departure and arrival point for troops serving our country around the world. Troops are given heart-felt welcomes and good-bys at Bangor, by a steadfast group of Troop Greeters and others.The "original" Troop Greeters began greeting the troops returning from Operation Desert Storm.The Troop Greeters at the Bangor International Airport come in at all hours of the day or night to welcome soldiers home from Iraq and Afghanistan. Since May 2003 and the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Maine Troop Greeters have greeted more than 4000 flights and over 800,000 soldiers.There have been numerous requests to greet the returning troops. To best accommodate the welcoming public, all troop greetings will be coordinated through a joint effort between the airport, the Maine Troop Greeters and the various Veterans and Civic organizations.Please check http://www.themainetroopgreeters.com/ for further information and photos of our troops or contact your Veterans Association. This is such a beautiful Fingerprint from God, and it is God, working through people. As we know, God is Love...
Sometimes, we forget about the war going on, we are so busy in our own lives. These greeters never forget the troops, coming and going..What a beautiful Fingerprint.

That truly is a beautiful fingerprint. So inspiring to know there are so many people willing to sacrifice their time to show love and concern for total strangers.
I know that this goes on - I belong to a group in Texas that does this at our Airports when the trops come home. I can't help but cry - the people that have give us our lives and ask nothing back in return! I'm a military daughter/sister and soon to be girl friend. It give me chills to know that people will be there, saying thank you!

I can't help but smile reading your post...I hear and read so much negitive, horrible crimes and hurtful things people do everyday...what a breath of fresh air. Such an awesome show of love.

I lived in Maine and greeted troops returning from Desert Storm. In reality greeting the troops has been going on to some degree since then about 18 years now. I wrote a book in 1991 with my Diary of greeting the troops and comments from troops and other troop greeters. I'm so thrilled to see the recognition the people are getting thru books and film.
I am considering republishing / rewriting my book "Goodbye Desert Storm, Hello Bangor, Maine" for the 20th anniversary of greeting the troops in 2011. Some people think it would be a waste of time and money. Any comments as to wether I should take the time or not? I'm in touch with a friend that may work with me on this endeavor.
