Books on Tape..

Have you ever listened to books on tape? I have to say, it can be very relaxing.
Put a tape on at night before going to sleep and it quiets the mind..Especially if you have had a rough day and can't seem to calm down. Sometimes, I listen to old radio tapes..Since I am not a t.v. watcher, these tapes are a good listen.
Of course, the book tapes you listen to, should be light mysteries and just good stories..nothing real exciting, but interesting.
I have a few language tapes I will put on when painting..just for the fun of it. It is even more fun listening to me trying to pronounce the words..
If you haven't done this before, try it..I bet you will be surprised at the enjoyment you will get from it..it is a good way to use the mind.

Till next time, keep looking up..

I've been frustrated that I haven't had time to read at all lately, but just the other day realized that I could be listening to books on tape while I'm working. I haven't gotten around to getting any yet, but it's definitely a great idea!

That's an awesome idea. I used to listen to "The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and it definitely helped me sleep. Now the hubby rubs my back until I conk out. :)

Sounds kind of silly, but I've never even thought of having a tape on while working or before bed - what a great idea! I've lost the reading bug as of late, so this would be perfect for me - thanks :)

I've never listened to one! I've always been afraid I would zone out and realize halfway through and have to rewind and rewind :) It sounds so wonderful though!

Christopher used to have a record label called Booksontape. I can never look at a book on tape the same again.

like charmaine said, we use them for long road trips. They are great. Just go to the library and get one or two. although i cant listen to them if I am driving. Usually the reader has such a soothing voice it almost puts me to sleep!

Share your own perception of God's fingerprints and then sign the Mr. Linky! :) It would be great to have you there.

And you're not slow with computers... ;-)

Forgot to mention my favorite author. she has lots of books on tape. Look for Alice Hoffman. I love all her books. A good one to pick up is "Skylight Confessions"
I read it in two days. I've read almost every book of hers that I can find at the library. The movie Practical Magic is from Her book "practical magic" any how have a great day.

Book CDs are really good because the reader reads in a way that can reveal meaning that you might otherwise have missed if read instead. And of course sometimes we are just too tired to read ..

I love listening to audio books for long car trips. Or when I used to commute. Made the time feel productive and more enjoyable.

Thank you for the comment on my blog.
I couldn't agree with you more about books on tape. I do an eight hour drive about 2x a month. Recently, on a trip to Barnes and Noble, I thought "Let me give these a shot" Wow, what a great way to pass the time in the car. The voices that they use are wonderful. I'm an avid reader but time doesn't always allow for a good book, what a great substitute!

During my commute this week, I've been listening to David Sedaris' Me Talk Pretty One Day. If you aren't familiar with his work, please check it out. He is a great writer and really funny! (Not rec'd for bedtime listening...you'll giggle too much)
