Green Tomato Jam.

Every now and then I put a recipe up. Something quick, tested and could be useful for the future..With times the way they are going, never hurts to store a few things. Some of you are starting gardens and growing tomatoes, so this is worth keeping.
This is an old recipe and at first I thought I would never use it..Well, with all the green tomatoes we had left over last year, I thought I would give it a try..I was shocked at how much it tasted like Raspberry/Strawberry jam..your children won't know the difference.

Green Tomato Jam

5 Cups green tomatoes (ground, I use food processor)
5 Cups sugar
1 Large pack Jello (raspberry, strawberry, cherry or what ever you fancy)

Process/grind tomatoes. Add sugar (less sugar may be uses, it is up to you)
Boil for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and add Jello. Stir for 3 minutes.
Put in sterilized jars and seal..or plastic containers and freeze..

Again, I always tell you to process the jam the way you feel comfortable.

Years ago, my dad told me about this type jam and I thought it sounded awful..How could a green tomato taste like jam? Well, give it a try, you will be surprised..

Till next time, keep looking up..

Interesting. I adore strawberry/rhubarb jam....how strange that tomatoes would taste like that.

I am all over this, my family always ends up getting rid of so many tomatos I can "steal" them before they know they are gone lol. Yum!
