My Harvest..

Over the weekend, I was busy with my rhubarb..I made my pineapple/rhubarb jam and rhubarb chutney...Never tried the chutney before, so it should be interesting.
Here are a few pictures of my labor..Put a few jars of each, to show you and a glass of rhubarb wine..that was made in October '07..
It is funny how wealthy you feel when you see your work on a shelf..Something so rewarding about it. Not only that, but you know what you are eating.

Till next time, keep looking up..

Looks good!

I am seriously missing my rhubarb plants. I was going to buy some at the store the other day, but the price was $2.99 for 4 meager stalks. Sob.

OHHHH!!!!! It reminds me of my grandma! She was a huge rhubard grower and we always had rhubarb jams and she would always make me a strawberry rhubarb pie when I would come and visit.

Its so red and so pretty!

That looks yummy!

We used to have a rhubarb plant in the garden in the house I grew up it. I stupidly ate some green rhubarb stalks raw once when I was about 6 and was very, very sick. It took me about 5 years before I would try it again.

That looks so good! you remind me that I should really start putting up a few jars myself. With todays prices it is just a smart thing to do, and nothing taste better. How is the wine and how do you do that?

Mmmm--I love rhubarb! Your jars look great and I agree it is very satisfying to "put up" food--I haven't done any canning since my Mom passed away (she and I always did it together) and I miss it!

I'm a big fan of rhubarb but I've never tried rhubarb wine before. I'll have to investigate & find some to sample. Sounds yummmy!
