This picture is from National Geographic and shows the Perseid Meteor Shower and what a treat you are in for..It will peak on August 11/12.
This is a fun thing to watch with children..Get a blanket and set it up in the yard or deck/porch..and watch the show.
The only thing that would ruin this display, is the weather..lets hope for clear skies..
To me this meteor shower and the one in November are the best..If you have never seen one before, you are in for a wonderful time.
Nothing beats fireworks from heaven..
Till next time, keep looking up...

I've never seen a meteor shower. It must be an awesome sight.
My husband and I fell in love under a meteor shower in an Iowa cornfield many moons ago :).
In case anyone is wondering why two deletes..Lucky duck hit the button three times and I just took out two of the three repeats..
Never seen one before, so this is definitely great idea :)
Gosh! That's on our anniversary, even!
I love a good meteor shower. We take our sleeping bags out to the trampoline and just lay back and enjoy! Hopefully it will be a good one this year!
oh how fun!!!!
I will have to jot those dates down.
I remember watching a shower back home, when I was 13 or 14. I saw what looked like a burning pearl in the sky, right before the sun went down. It was the prettiest thing I'd ever seen. And then my friend and I layed out on the front lawn for hours, making tally marks for every streak accross the sky. I love meteor showers *sigh*.

I would have missed this (and kicked myself for it)-- thanks for the reminder!
Thanks for the reminder. My husband loves to watch for this.
Great info, writing it in the calendar now thanks :)
I always look forward to it and then forget! this time I'll be witting the dates down.
there's something about a meteor shower that reminds me just how small we really are - so incredible to watch.
Awesome! Thanks for posting this.. I really look forward to taking a good look. Definately a good day for a camp out in the back yard. :) I've marked it on the calendar. Peace!
Yeah, I'm looking forward to sitting in a lawn chair with a blanket over me in 100 degree weather, just to keep from turning into a giant mosquito bite...but it is worth every second, better than fireworks...and just think of all the wishes. Hope the skies are clear for all of us.

My daughter can't wait! You are in for a wonderful treat! Fireworks from heaven, oh Rosebud you do have a way with words! :)
This sounds great! I've never seen a meteor shower before. Fingers crossed for a nice clear night!
I wish I could see the meteor shower! It's just too bright here in Southern California!
We are in the mountains of Northern California and I look forward to August every year, such a good reason to stay up late on a summer evening.
