BubbleBabbles has tagged me and I must admit this is a different kind of tag..Who would I like to play me, in the movies..


My life - The Movie

If you had to select celebrities/actors to play the parts in the story of your life today (including yourself), who would it be and why - this can be based on looks or personality.

The only one I could think of right now is Goldie Hawn..She has done things that really make me laugh..and since I have been doing a few odd things lately, sounds like a good match..Of course we look nothing alike and I am a tad older..notice the "tad"..Okay, I lied, quite a bit older..
Anyway, she seems like a good choice..plus Kurt is from Maine.. I know, I am not born here..but what the heck..this is where I am for now..

My Heart Moon..

Last night I wanted to take a few more pictures of the moon..Well, I had the screen up and I swear a bat was coming at me..I quickly took the picture and shut the screen..I guess my hand shook and the moon looks like a heart..
Isn't it cute..?
I couldn't do that again, if I tried..

Beautiful Harvest Moon

Last night I was able to take a couple of pictures of the beautiful Harvest Moon..It was shinning so nicely..One picture is looking through the curtain..Isn't it wonderful? No matter how many times I see a full moon, I still get excited looking at another. Looking at the moon, always makes me realize...we all have a purpose on earth..the only difference, Mr. Moon knows his..

Shadow Shot Sunday and One Desperate Woman..

The problems I was having getting a Shadow Shot..for one thing it looked like rain, no sun..Okay..I can handle that..turn on a light and use the grandchildren's toys..It is what we call desperate..Pirate Pete, Lasso Sam and Six Shooter Fred were very accommodating..Then I grabbed a toy horse while I was at it..
Now, I see the sun coming out..Ran outside in the rose bushes and grabbed my yard ornament, put it on the back deck and took a shadow shot..Running with that yard ornament is no easy feat..The things I will do for Hey Harriet's Shadow Shot Sunday..there is no stopping me..Well, my dear Hey Harriet..see you next week...now I have drag that ornament back to the rose bushes..

Fast Recipe..

I want to share a fast recipe for making, Pickled Beets, Cauliflower, Pickles or any combo you like..I just made the beets yesterday..This recipe is for the refrigerator and will keep up to 9 months..There is a lot of sugar and you can cut that down, if you like..The beets are cooked, cauliflower/carrots should be precooked to crunchy..Cucumbers just wash and slice..
Clean jar, can use quarts if you like...pack vegetables in, I add onions as I go...
Make a syrup on stove..
4 Cups sugar
4 Cups white vinegar
1/2 Cup pickling salt
2 cloves garlic
1 1/3 tsp each...turmeric, celery seed, mustard seed..
Just heat till sugar dissolves and pour over vegetables..put in fridge..Can be used in a few days..

Something quick and you will be happy you didn't waste a veggie..The beets can be made from canned beets too..Enjoy..

9/11..

Being born in L.I., New York..this terrible day hit home..My husband's brothers worked on the buildings when they were being built..There were many stories I had heard that have left a hole in my heart..May we never forget all the innocent lives that were lost this day..Workers, tourist, fireman, policeman and the list goes on...
Never take anything for granted..God Bless America..

Then we have the neat phone..Can you picture people using that today..?
They are very heavy, I have a younger model and let me tell you, your hand gets tired holding the thing..

























This is a beautiful collar you can make..and I think it really was popular in its time..I know this, it took a great deal of work to make..
Well, that is some of the pictures from the magazines of the 30ies..Of course there is so much more, but my picture taking is lousy and can't show the real beauty..

Roof Is Finished..

Well, the roof is done..My son-in-law did such a beautiful job..He would come out on days off from work, just to do this for us..There is still the deck to change, but that will be done in the spring..Our concern is winter and snow sliding off the roof..now we don't have to worry..He built it so strong, you could ride a truck up there..The first three pictures, he needed help with the ice/water paper..It is very sticky..So hubby/daughter helped him..Wouldn't get me up there, even though it isn't that high..Yesterday the shingles were finished..I bet some are wondering what all the white is. Six tons of pellets for our pellet stove, they will be moved in the barn..Another daughter/son-in-law/grandkids will help with that job..
Well, that is the porch so far..are we pleased..

Shadow Shot Sunday..How I Just Love This Day..

Hey Harriet and Shadow Shot Sunday is one of my favorite days. My solar lantern made a nice shadow...and now you can all see my wash on the line shadow..tell me that isn't different? I thought it was kind of nice..I really should have hung the clothes better, maybe a little more organized..but when I hung them, I didn't realize they would be one of my shadows..Now is the deck shot..I call this, "A tree grows in Maine"...the shadow is good, but the rose bush growing up through the deck is a problem..haven't got the heart to chop it down..Well, my dear Hey Harriet, this has been a fun day and I thank you for letting me join in..and you know I will be back..if you don't ban me.

Golden Angel..

Simchieinspires has sent me this angel, she is for everyone..I just picked her up for all to see..

I alway think of a true story, told to me, about children sitting on the edge of their seats, in school..When asked why were they sitting like that?..They replied," We're leaving room for our Guardian Angel.".
We could learn so much from children..

Blue Angels..

Now here is something I think is beautiful..The Blue Angels..The Navy's precision flying team...They will be at the Brunswick Naval Air Station this weekend, here in Maine..I can not tell you the thrill in seeing them ..but I had a bigger thrill one year. I was outside, on the side of our house and heard a roar...and there they were in the Delta Formation, right over my yard..Talk about
being frozen in time..I couldn't move..It was the most exciting thing and was so happy to witness this wonderful team going over my property..Every time they come back to Brunswick, I am hoping they make another practice run..
Just so you know, I will be in and out of the house all weekend, just keeping a watchful eye on the sky...

Steam Devils.

This is something I never heard of and thought you would all enjoy reading about..
Went to one of my favorite sites, Space Weather, to see what was new..Well, take a look at this picture. The photo is taken by Mike Hollingstead in Iowa..called a "steam tornado".
This "steam tornado" happens when the water is warm and the air is cold..Isn't it interesting?
Space Weather has the neatest information and most beautiful pictures.
We have seen "sea smoke" many times, but never anything like this..Always fun to learn something new..you can go to the site and read all about it.

Daughter's Yard

Our twin grandchildren had their 7th birthday yesterday..so we were off to a party..These are pictures of my daughter's garden and the wonderful tree house, her husband made..They live by a little inlet, which I was hoping to get a few shots of wonderful birds..no such luck..Anyway, took a few pictures of her yard..Flowers are almost over for the year, but you can see how beautiful her garden was..Every one of our girls have beautiful gardens..and they didn't get that gift from me..so much for genes..
