I was looking at old pictures and found this one of my grandfather, taken in the summer of 1893..He was a shipbuilder..Here he is working, at 19, on a submarine..This of course, is before he had the shipyard..
This boat was constructed by John Philip Holland, born,1844-County Clare, Ireland. The U.S.Navy, has declared that he is the inventor of Submarines..
Just a neat piece of history and thought it was worth writing about..
Till next time, keep looking up..

Isn't wonderful to find treasures like these?
That's a great old picture & the story was certainly worth writing about. Thanks for sharing that piece of your history. I don't think I have anything interesting about my history to share. Maybe I'll do a little research & I'll discover something :)

wow cool pictures, the oldest I have are in the 30s but isn't it so good to have kept this photo. Thanks for sharing :)
great picture, good timing-putting together a post about two uncles that served in submarine service in WW1. The sub did not change much from your photo and the ones in 1916 - its great that all our ancestors saved these photo's, mine are getting dog eared from my looking at them so much, glad you are sharing yours
We love history and this is so neat to find something like this about your family. Thanks for sharing it!
Was your grandfather John Holland? My family (some of them on 1 side) came from Claire too! Cool, maybe yours & mine were neighbors :)
Very cool photo, great story!
